Moore Hollow Fire in Lee County Fifth Largest In VA

A spring fire in Southwest Virginia was among the largest in the Commonwealth. The Virginia Department of Forestry reports that its firefighters responded to 411 Virginia wildfires during the spring fire season, which runs from Feb. 15 to April 30. Including the Moore Hollow Fire in Lee County which burned 525 acres.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is asking motorists to be alert in the Brumley Gap Road/John Douglas Wayside area of Washington County. This after a large boulder blocked the right lane on Hwy. 19 NB. VDOT stated heavy rain attributed to the 10-foot by 10-foot by 25-foot boulder coming loose.
