The Carter County Board of Education has voted to close Little Milligan Elementary School. School leaders say budget concerns are the main reason for closing the school. Some parents have spoken against. Others say they are looking into homeschooling as a way to avoid longer bus rides, and overcrowding.
One person is dead following a crash on Interstate 26 Sunday night. According to the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD), officers were called to a two-vehicle crash near exit 17, when a vehicle heading the wrong way hit another vehicle head-on killing it’s driver.
