Lane closures are coming to University Parkway

Lane closures are coming to University Parkway for about three months as part of Johnson City’s West Walnut Corridor Redevelopment Plan. Contractors with Johnson City Water and Sewer Services and Public Works will close lanes on University Parkway between West State of Franklin Road and West Pine Street starting May 19.

Family Life Curriculum

Johnson City Schools is seeking input from the public on its proposed family life curriculum. The Washignton County school board has given it’s stamp of approval for security entry vestibules at Daniel Boone and David Crockett High Schools. Johnson County Murder

A man’s death in Johnson County, Tennessee, is now being called a murder. Sheirff’s officials said Monday that Robert Phillippi Junior’s body was discovered at a home on Cross Mountain Road on Saturday. A suspect is reportedly identified and is being held at the jail in Johnson County for an unrelated case.

High School Security

New security measures being unveiled at Abingdon high School. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday for the new security vestibule. The project was paid for using state taxpayer dollars, as well as Washington County. Holston High and Patrick Henry High School wuill also soon see these new security measures, as well.

House Fire

Firefighters believe lighting caused an abandoned home in Washington County, Tennessee, to catch fire. Fire crews responded Monday night to the homne on Cowen Drive. It was quickly determined that the home was vacant. Heavy rainfall hindredred the fire crews. The home did not have electricity hooked up to it.

4th Grade Retention Bill
