The 36th annual Pepsi Independence Day Fireworks Celebration presented by Food City is happening at the Freedom Hall grounds today. Festivities begin this afternoon at 4 p.m. and lasting through the fireworks and post-fireworks concert featuring Southern Rebellion.There will be food trucks kids activities and the fireworks will begin at 9:55 pm.

The annual fireworks display in downtown Elizabethton ended with a big boom Saturday night, which had some spectators wondering if the blast of fire was intentional. After news outlets talked to the Elizabethon fire chief it was determined the blast was intentional called a gas mine firework.
