VA Trout Euthanized

The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) has found trout infected with whirling disease at a Southwest Virginia fish hatchery. A release from the DWR states the disease has been detected in catchable-size trout. Whirling disease is caused by a parasite. 40,000 trout were regrettably euthanized at the fishery in order to control the disease.

Child Dies In Murder Suicide

A man killed a young child and then himself in what is believed to a be a murder-suicide in Wise County. Another child has been hospitalized following exposure to E. coli after students from Sullivan and Washington counties visited an animal exhibit in September. Body Found In Alley Identified

Police in Bristol, Virginia have identified the body of a woman found dead in an alley on Oct. 11. the body of Alexis M. Oswell, 21, of Waterford, Connecticut was found near Kings Mountain Alley. No foul play is suspected, police say. The cause of death is pending a report from the medical examiner.
