Secretary of State Tre Hargett is cautioning Tennesseans to be wary of scams as they prepare to make end-of-the-year and holiday-season charitable contributions.To help Tennesseans avoid charity fraud and maximize their donation’s impact, the Secretary of State’s Division of Business and Charitable Organizations created a Wise Giving Tips video on sos.tn.gov/charities.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will conduct two sobriety roadside safety checkpoints this month. The first will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, on State Route 93-Kingsport Highway.A second roadside safety checkpoint will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 23, on Blue Springs Parkway, two-tenths of a mile west of U.S. 11E.

TN Seatbelts

The Tennessee Highway Safety Office said this week that its annual roadside observational survey has found 90.49% of Tennesseans are using their seat belts.The statewide survey’s usage rate represents an increase of approximately 0.4% compared to the 90.12 that was recorded in 2021.This year’s result is Tennessee’s third-highest recorded annual seat belt usage rate.
