A shelter along the Appalachain trail in Carter COunty has burned to the ground. Volunteers spent Monday morning cleaning up the mess at the Laurel Fork sherlter in hampton, which is located near mile marker 422 on the trail. The Boots Off Hostel and Campground announced the shelter had been detsroyed last week. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, according to Hostel owner Jim Gregory.
