A section of I-81 is now back open after a semi crash caused a hazmat situation on Sunday. VDOT says the tanker truck blew out a tire on the northbound side, causing the driver to lose control and run off the left side of the roadway., The rig then struck a guardrail, causing a large diesel fuel leak and spill. It took several hours to clean up the mess and traffic was jammed for as much as five miles back. Again, things are back open and normal now.
