The police department in Erwin has hired it’s first black police officer in it’s 133 year history. Roger Antone has been on the job about six weeks. Antone came from Bluff City Polcie, where he was also the first black officer hired there years ago. But this isn’t what he wants to be remembered for. Antone told WJHL TV he wants to be judged by his character, not the color of his skin. Chief Regan Tilson says Antone is doing a “phenomenal” job.
