The Kingsport Fire Department is considering replacing its current Fire Station Number 2 due to aging buildings and other needs. Funding discussions are currently underway for the new building, which would house administrative staff and be located near the former Legion Pool. The department is also considering constructing a fire station near the Tri-Cities Airport, which the city purchased due to growth in the east part of Kingsport.
