Laser Injures Pilot

A laser at Johnson County Airport injured pilot Matthew Mellon during a night landing. The aircraft was going around 145 miles per hour, and Mellon’s four children and wife were with him. The incident is the first time this has happened at the airport, which handles around 3,500 planes annually. Pointing lasers at an airplane can lead to serious consequences, including imprisonment up to five years and fines ranging from $10,000 to $30,000. The Sheriff’s Office Is Investigating.
