A phone scam targeting registered sex offenders in Tennessee has now reached Greene County.Angie Weems, administrator of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department Sex Offender Registry, has received calls from several people listed on the registry who said they had been contacted from someone claiming to be from the sheriff’s department. The caller told them that warrants have been issued for their arrest and gave them instructions on how to send money so they would not be arrested.Weems says it is a scam.
