Elizabethton’s Franklin swimming pool is expected to remain closed for at least anouther couple weeks. The reason is due to a failed pump that pool officials are trying to get replacement parts for. The closure is unfortunate, considering the recent heat wave. After the closure of Roan Mountain’s public swimming pool three years ago, the Franklin Pool is Carter County’s only public swimming pool. Additionally, the city has already announced that the pool would close early this summer, on July 31st, in order to begin a 1-million dollar installation of a new chlorinator and heater.
