Tennesseee residents can now order free seeds to help boost the Monarch butterfly population. Free seeds will be Red and Common Milkweed and come from the TDOT Pollinator Habitat Program’s Project Milkweed. The program started in 1992 after a decline of more than 90 percent in the Monarch butterfly population. Seeds need to be planted before mid-October to ensure germination.
