A man who killed a Big Stone Gap police officer has pleaded guilty to federal charges. Officer Michal Chandler had responed to a welfare check on Orr Street in November of 2021. He saw a car outside the home whena man named Michael White, of South Carolina, got out and fied eight rounds, striking Chandler in the stomach and hand. White was later arrested in Kingsport. He will face up to 40 years in state prison when he is sentenced.
