A local company has been issued a violation and fine for the workplace death of a Gatlinburg man at the town’s convention center in December. The Tennessee Occupational Health and Safety Administration says 66 year old Jeffrey Coker died on December 26th. He and another worker were using a forklift to install rigging in the rafters, but Coker somehow lost his balance and fell 32 feet to the floor of the convention center. TOSHA said none of the employees had received proper training to recognize the hazards of falling or to minimize such hazards.
