School Violence Bill Passes Senate

A new bill in the Tennessee statehouse would make it a stronger felony crime to threaten a school and increase penalties for such acts. Bristol Republican Senator Jon Lundberg is the bill’s sponsor. Right now, threatening to commit an act of mass violence at a school or school-related activity is actually only a misdemeanor. The legislation was passed by the Senate in a 30–0 vote on Tuesday. The House passed it late last month. The bill now heads to the govenor’s desk.
