The Kingsport school board has approved lower tuition rates for students who attend schools, but don’t actually live in the city. The new rates will start next school year. The rate will be $1,000 per yer per student. Students who live within the city limits pay half that rate. Rates will also decrease by $50 per year for each additional child in a family, or by $25 for city and school system employees. Out-of-state tuition will remain $9,700 per year.
