The former sheriff of Carter COunty is recovering after being injured in a tree cutting mishap. Chris Mathes was seriously hurt over the weekend when a lrge tree limb that he was curtting fell and struck him, while he was up in the tree. Mathes then fell about ten feet to the ground. Mathes is reportedly in stable condition, but in an ICU unit. Mathes retuired from law enforcement in 2022 after nearly 30 years of service.
