First Judicial District Attorney General Steve Finney sent a letter to law enforcement agencies in Washington County, urging them to do their due diligence when making domestic violence arrests. The letter emphasized the importance of officers including arrest history and previous failures to appear in court offenses. As well as letting the night clerk know of the information, so that the appropriate bond ammount can be set. Night Clerks are only allowed to set bonds for misdemeanors up to $1,000. Something Finney said is not acceptable in these cases.
