Johnson City Commissioners will consider approving $175,000 for a consulting firm to help determine the best value and market for the John Sevier Center and Downtown Center. The Johnson City Development Authority (JCDA) and the city’s economic development team have been soliciting bids for a study to determine the best way to redevelop and reuse the iconic 11-story former hotel. The John Sevier Hotel, which opened in 1924, was converted to affordable housing in the 1980s and was paid $4.6 million for in 2019.
