HB1635 Limits Pets In Restaurants

Governor Bill Lee has signed a bill prohibiting untrained service animals from being in restaurants. HB1635, would prohibit “emotional support animals that are not trained, or being trained, to perform tasks or work for a person with a disability” from indoor food service establishments. And, would give restaurants the power to turn away patrons with pets. Some lawmakers have argued too many pet owners are calling their dogs “service animals” or “emotional support animals.”
