The Kingsport Public Library is raising money for a major renovation project. the Friends of the Kingsport Library are hoping to raise 1.5 million dollars. They say this is the first major renovation project that will be done to the library in more than three decades. The city did allocate about 6 million dollars for the project last year, but budget estimates have since risen significantly. The group says they’d like to double the space for the children’s area and buy a new elevator.
