St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Abingdon has raised more than 40-thousand dollars to help fight medical debt in Southwest Virginia. The churc held fundraisers and also accepted private donations. The fund has already helped some 58-hundred families in the region pay off their burdensome medical debt. Church Rector Boyd Evans says the church will continue to raise money for the fund in the future.
