Homeless Rate Rises In NE TN

Northeast Tennessee’s homeless population swelled by 46% last year — nearly four times the national rate — according to a one-night “point in time” (PIT) count conducted nationally each year. In raw numbers, the homeless population rose from 392 to 572 and the portion of those who were not spending the night in a shelter more than doubled from 111 to 245.
