A total of 194 students in Greeneville and Greene County were promoted to fourth grade through new requirements under the controversial “Third Grade Retention Law.”Numbers provided by local school districts show that Greeneville City Schools promoted 93 third-graders, and Greene County Schools promoted 101 third-graders after successful completion of “Summer Camp.” Passing remediation means passing the english proficiency exam.
