Being two years ahead of schedule and after federal COVID-era funding accelerated the build-out of BrightRidge’s fiber optic internet infrastructure in Johnson City, the company is now looking to grants to bring service to rural parts of Washington County.BrightRidge’s original plan for the roll out of fiber optic service wasn’t expected to be finished until 2026. Now,being ahead of schedule with Johnson City commissioners putting federal American Rescue Plan dollars toward the project to begin work on the electric lines.
