With curbing and a stone base completed a street extension at Cherokee Street to connect West Walnut Street to West State of Franklin Road is underway.The work is part of Johnson City’s $33 million West Walnut Street Corridor Redevelopment Plan. The revitalization project is designed to connect East Tennessee State University to the city’s downtown area.The street extension will pave the way for a new access to the historic Tree Streets from West State of Franklin.
