The Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, and, like many summers before, the shelter has found itself at capacity with kittens and dogs.Currently, the shelter is taking care of over 475 animals on-site and has over an additional 145 animals in foster homes. With kitten season, it is not unusual for the shelter to take in 20-30 kittens a day. Executive Director Tammy Davis says this season has been especially difficult for them because of the workload. She adds donations to the shelter are also accepted, from household cleaning supplies to pet food, treats and toys.
