Following in the steps of Kingsport, Johnson City is creating a new position to help connect the local homeless population with the resources they need to find housing. A homeless outreach coordinator will work alongside the Johnson City Police Department to reach out to those who are facing homelessness in the city and identify their individual needs and connect them with the resources to address those needs. The position is a first in Johnson City, according to Johnson City City Manager Cathy Ball.
