In an effort to bring the grading scale in Tennessee in line with nearby states the new school year is bringing a new grading scale along with it because Tennessee lawmakers said the previous grading scale presented some challenges especially for military families.“It was brought to my attention by some constituents that Tennesseans were at an academic disadvantage relative to students from other states,” said State Representative Charlie Baum (R-Murfreesboro). Tennessee had been using a seven point scale which meant a 92% earned a b grade while in Kentucky a 92% earn ed an A-grade.
