The Kingsport Police Department is welcoming its newest K9 to the force alongwith its first female K9 handler.Officer Carrie Phillips is the department’s first female K9 handler. She named her K9 partner Whiskee.Phillips began her law enforcement career in December 2018 as a corrections officer with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office. In September 2020, she was hired by the Kingsport Police Department and sworn in as a police officer.
