With the passage of a new law to prevent abuse some agriculture representatives say they are in support of a new Virginia law that will require farmers to purchase their ‘farm use’ plates at the Department of Motor Vehicles.Farmers have historically been able to purchase their ‘farm use’ tags at a store or insurance provider outside of the DMV to indicate a vehicle designated for agriculture purposes, but Virginia laws will change that option beginning next year. The DMV-issued farmuse plate is significantly cheaper than buying standard plates and does not have to be renewed.
