Smoke Detectors

Dozens of teens from several states helped install free smoke detectors in local neighborhoods including in Northeast Tennessee.Officials with the American Red Cross say it’s saving lives and promoting community service in the next generation. It’s a project the Red Cross has done for years. The groups started by learning from Bristol, Virginia firefighters how to properly install the detectors, checking that they’re not more than 10 years old and have working batteries.Others learned more parts of the job, like teaching residents to form a fire escape plan and taking down information.
