Instead of having to apply for processing a year before the cattle are ready, Washington County, Tennessee Commissioners took the first steps toward establishing a meat processing cooperative in the county during a meeting this week.Commissioners approved $2 million from the county’s American Rescue Plan funds to go toward the Appalachian Producers Cooperative’s continued development of a meat processing plant for local livestock farmers.
