The Wise County School System in Southwest Virginia is the first system in the country to test run a pilot program for the Starlink System for high speed internet services in rural Southwest Virginia. Starlink is still being built out with regular rocket launches but already is providing service to some locations in Wise County. Wise County is the first school system in the country to go online with Starlink. The Virginia General Assembly is introducing a budget amendment that would make available two million dollars for more satellite internet services in the Commonwealth’s rural sectors.
