Serious Accident On 11E

(GREENE COUNTY) – First responders at an accident in Greene County…

Officials say one person was airlifted following a three-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and two cars on U.S. 11E, near Exit 23 on Interstate 81. A passenger in the pickup truck, 39-year-old Tracy Richards, of Greeneville, was flown to Johnson City Medical Center for unspecified injuries.

One Hurt In GC Crash

Car Theft At Restaurant

(GREENE COUNTY) – A pizza delivery person’s worst nightmare in Greeneville…

Investigators tell reporters a red 2011 Honda CRZ was stolen from the rear of Domino’s Pizza on Andrew Johnson Highway. The owner told police she was outside the business smoking and then went inside. When she came back out, the car was missing. A Domino’s sign on top of the car was located by employees in the parking lot, near Publix. The investigation continues.

Auto Ripped Off In GC

Tax Increase Mulled In SC

(SULLIVAN COUNTY) – Sullivan County officials are considering a property tax increase of six cents…

Two cents of that increase would be for school resource officers, two cents for county employee raises and two for additional jail staff, such as officers and nurses. The proposed increase would cost a residential property owner $15 per $100,000 appraised value. The budget committee will meet again next Wednesday to make a formal recommendation to the full county commission.

Developers of the Mendota Trail have received a $25,000 grant for an engineering study. Rails to Trails Conservancy announced a series of 10 grants, including one to the trail, which once complete, would extend from just outside the Bristol, Virginia, city limits to Mendota. Mountain Heritage Inc., a nonprofit organization that has an established record of trail development in the region, acquired the property in 2016.

Bowers Faces Charges

(JOHNSON CITY) – An Elizabethton man now faces felony charges after Johnson City officers say he hit a parked vehicle and nearly struck a bystander…

Brandon Bowers, 28, is accused of reckless endangerment, failure to exercise due care, DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. Officers say witnesses approached Bowers to check on him and to get him to stop driving at the scene. Minutes later, they were able to find Bowers’ vehicle crashed at South Broadway and Orleans.
