Fee Increases Proposed

(GREENE COUNTY) – Officials with the Cherokee National Forest are proposing fee increases…

In some instances, doubling what campers currently pay…at sites across Greene County and the rest of the region. Some sites in eastern Tennessee haven’t had an increase in the last decade. The county is home to three sites that collect fees…the Horse Creek, Old Forge and Paint Creek campgrounds.

Man Issued Warrant

(GREENEVILLE) – Tempers flare between family members in Greeneville…

Deputies responded to a Horton Highway address on a report of a woman holding a man at gunpoint. The woman called the sheriff’s department and was at the end of her driveway when deputies arrived. She told them a relative grabbed her by the wrists and threatened to harm her. That’s when she got her piece and told the man to cool it. He left the home when deputies arrived. A domestic assault warrant was issued for his arrest.

Four Brought In For Drugs

(CARTER COUNTY) — An area drug bust…

Officials say four people were brought in after a Carter County deputy saw three of them passing around a meth pipe in the back seat of a vehicle at a red light on West Elk Avenue. Gregory Hicks, William Gowin, Tessia Leonard, and Nicole Baumgardner face drug possession charges. All have a court date, soon.

Stolen Car Find In WCVA

(WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA) – A speeding ticket nets more than that…

A driver, pulled over for speeding on Interstate 81 in Washington County, Virginia is taken into custody after police find his vehicle had been stolen. Rayshawn Selby, of Newcastle, Delaware, is charged with one count of felony grand larceny and speeding. The vehicle was stolen in Pennsylvania. Selby was taken to Southwest Virginia Regional Jail on bond.

National Day Of Prayer Observance

The National Day of Prayer is Thursday. Karen Johnson has a report.

A rally is planned for Thursday at noon at the Greene County Courthouse.This year’s rally is being coordinated by the Greeneville/Greene County Ministerial Association, a news release said.The public is invited to attend the gathering to observe a day set aside for the nation to pause in prayer. The theme for the 2019 National Day of Prayer is “Love One Another,” which comes from the words of Jesus in John 13:34: “Love one another. Just as I have loved you.” I’m Karen Johnson.

Creasy Steps Down

(ROGERSVILLE) — A Hawkins County constable resigns…

William Creasy was indicted earlier this year after being accused of making a traffic stop and detaining a citizen prior to officially taking office. Creasy faces one count of official misconduct and one count of official oppression…punishable by one to two years. Creasy remains free on $10,000 bond, pending a June 3 court date.
