Gov. Lee Once Again Punts on Medical Marijuana Legalization

Despite four members of his own party sponsoring bills legalizing medical marijuana or cannabis, Republican Governor Bill Lee isn’t keen on the idea.

While Republicans Janice Bowling and Ron Travis roll out the 2019 Tennessee Medical Cannabis Act, saying “sometimes change is a good thing,” Lee told NewsChannel 11 on Monday that he would rather “explore alternatives before we go there.”

Just like on the campaign trail, he distanced himself from the issue, saying he wants to first expand the use of CBD oils with little to no THC as well as alternative treatments.

Two other Republicans -who are medical doctors- have also proposed a bill that would allow for medicinal marijuana.
