Eight Va. Counties, Cities Pushing Towards Hydroelectric Storage Station

A massive power project in Southwest Virginia is one step closer to completion. Livewire’s Adam Chappelle has more.

Tazewell County and Buchanan County are among eight coalfield cities and counties that have adopted resolutions supporting a hydroelectric storage project. Along with that project would include a regional revenue sharing agreement. Included in that agreement are Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell, and Wise Counties as well as the city of Norton. Dominion Energy is looking to build the $1.8 billion hydroelectric station in the region- it’s estimated it would add as many as 2,000 construction jobs and around 50 permanent positions.
