Honaker Drug Raid Nets $1M in Pot Plants

(HONAKER, Va.) — A drug raid nets more than 600 marijuana plants.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office says the raid was part of an investigation into drug activity in the Honaker area, according to a Friday report.

52-year-old Michael McIntyre is charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession with intent to distribute from the John Simms Rd. home.

At latest check, he is being held in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon.

Investigators say the plants are worth about $1 million.

Driver Allegedly Tries to Ram Car, Nearly Hits Pedestrians

(JOHNSON CITY) — A local teenager is due in court Monday for allegedly trying to ram cars and nearly running over pedestrians.

18-year-old Katie Roark is being held on $50,000 bond after she allegedly drove after another car with several occupants in the 600 block of E. Main St. on Friday.

Another victim tells police that Roark nearly struck him and his 10-year-old son as they were walking through a nearby parking lot.

Roark faces five counts of reckless endangerment.

Police: Driver Flees from Crash, Leaving 9-Year-Old Behind

(KINGSPORT) — A local man is in custody after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash and leaving a young child behind.

34-year-old Brandon Adams faces felony charges for the June 23 crash. He was arrested Thursday at his Snapps Ferry Rd. home.

Police say Adams crashed into a parked vehicle at Dorothy and Short streets, then ran off. A 9-year-old boy in the back seat was not injured and walked alone back to his apartment a couple blocks away.

The boy tells police that Adams appeared to pass out just before the crash.

Missing Kingsport Woman Found Safe

(KINGSPORT) — A local woman last known in the area June 9 has been found safe.

59-year-old Tomorrow ‘Tammy’ Statzer was located Friday in a neighboring state.

Statzer had been reported missing June 17 by an acquaintance who had not heard from her for about a week.

Police were concerned about her overall safety and welfare due to some health issue.

No immediate word on exactly where she was found or why she disappeared.

District Attorney General, James Dunn says the state couldn’t prove who started the original blaze inside the park that led to the November 28 disaster in Gatlinburg. The Department of Justice will decide whether to pursue charges against any people alleged to have caused the fire. Fourteen people died in the blaze, and more than 2,400 structures were burned or damaged. Total losses are estimated at $1 billion.

Kingsport Collision Results In One Death

(KINGSPORT) — A collision Friday morning on Lynn Garden Drive results in the death of a passenger.

Police say a driver was on Lynn Garden approaching Truxton Drive when a car driven by Beulah Fansler of Gate City pulled out in front of her and the two vehicles collided.

A passenger in Fansler’s car identified as Eula Rogan of Kingsport was pronounced dead at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Lynn Garden Drive was closed for the crash investigation but has since reopened.

Domestic Abuse Situation Turns Into Police Pursuit

(GREENEVILLE) — A man faces multiple charges for first trying to assault a woman who had a protection order against him then leading police on a chase before being finally arrested.

Police say Bryan Wesley showed up Thursday at a Horton Highway home demanding to be let in and the victim told officers Wesley fired around six rounds at the home.

The chase started on a motorcycle and ended with a foot pursuit near Mount Zion Cemetary where Wesley was arrested.

Man Arrested On Credit Card Fraud

(JOHNSON CITY) — Bond was set at $167,000 for a man charged with using stolen credit and debit cards to make multiple purchases.

Police say Thomas Evans was arrested Thursday as the result of two separate investigations in which the victims say their cards were used to make several purchases in and around Johnson City.

Evans faces 15 counts of identity theft and 15 counts of theft of property under $1,000.00

Man Wanted After Eluding Police

(SALTVILLE) — The hunt continues for a driver who evaded arrest after a pursuit on Thursday.

Police say they tried to stop Timothy O’Bryan Taylor of Honaker for speeding near Old Saltworks Road and Old Mill Road but Taylor took off, leading officers into Russell County then into Honaker where Taylor took off on foot.

A K-9 unit was called in but wasn’t able to track Taylor down.
