Jones Is Sentenced

(TRI CITIES) – The Erick Jones trial comes to a close…Jim O’Reilly…

Judge, John Dugger sentenced Jones to 50 years in prison for killing his girlfriend’s two baby girls in 2014. Jones also has an additional six years to serve for an out of state conviction. Jones escaped the possibility of the death penalty when a jury in September rejected first degree murder instead convicting him of the lesser offenses of facilitation of murder.

A Johnson City couple was arrested after police found they were living in a van in a Johnson City parking lot with an 8-month-old infant in a filthy environment. They say the vehicle was full of animal waste. The baby had to be treated at the emergency room for a rash and animal scratches. Melissa Hicks and Martin Tilley are charged with aggravated child abuse.

Washington County, Virginia officers are investigating a late night shooting on Reedy Creek Road. They think the domestic argument led a women to shoot her boyfriend. He was transported to Bristol Regional in stable condition. No word on charges.

Victim In Hospital After Shooting

(WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA) – Police are on the case in an area shooting.

Washington County, Virginia officers are investigating a late night shooting on Reedy Creek Road. They think the domestic argument led a women to shoot her boyfriend.

He was transported to Bristol Regional in stable condition. No word on charges.

Ballad Health Cancels Meeting with Sullivan Co. Lawmakers

A planned meeting between Ballad Health and lawmakers in Sullivan County has been called off.

Just a couple week ago, the company claimed county officials “didn’t have accurate information” when the Sullivan County Commission approved a resolution opposing changes to trauma and pediatric care.

Ballad Health yesterday says they have now canceled a planned meeting in which officials were going to address the commissioners’ concerns.

The company says it canceled the meeting because of sunshine laws that would be legal in a formal meeting setting.

Greeneville Man Gets 50 Years in Deaths of Girlfriend’s Infant Daughters

A Greenville man that was convicted of killing his girlfriend’s two baby girls will spent the next 50 years in prison.

Erick Jones escaped the death penalty back in September when a jury turned down first degree murder charges, and convicted him of lesser offenses, including facilitation of murder.

Jones’ girlfriend, Kendra Tweed, is also charged also in the murders of 2-month-old Trinity Tweed and 13-month old Kynsleigh Easterly. Her trial is set for January.
