Scott Co. Deputies Arrest Oregon Man Wanted for Attempted Murder

A man wanted for attempted murder in Oregon was arrested in southwest Virginia yesterday.

Police in Scott County say they spotted a pickup truck stuck in a creek near Duffield on Wednesday.

As they talked to the man, they realized John David Sexton was wanted out of his home state of Oregon for a long list of crimes.

He briefly escaped into the woods when police tried to take him into custody, but was later captured. He remains in the the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield. He is due in court Thursday and is likely facing extradition back to the Pacific Northwest.
