Washington Co.-Johnson City Shelter Doing Away with Drop Boxes

The Washington County-Johnson City Animal Shelter announced this week that effective Saturday, they will no longer accept animals after hours via the “drop box” system.

Shelter director Tammy Davis told the Johnson City Press as of tomorrow, the cages will be gone, and all animals will have to be brought in during regular business hours.

She cited overcrowding as one reason for doing away with the boxes, as well as a lack of medical information about the animals that are left in the drop boxes.
