Raises for Washington County (TN) Principals, Asst. Principals Proposed

Washington County principals and assistant principals could be seeing a pay raise under a motion made this week at a Board of Education meeting this week.

Departing board member Clarence Mabe made the motion at his final meeting Thursday night.

His proposal was to give a $10,000 pay raise to principals in the county and a $5,000 raise to assistant principals.

He said the county has lost more than two dozen administrators over the past two years, and pay for elementary school principals are so low, Mabe claimed they could get a raise by being a kindergarten teacher in other districts.
