Decades-Long Elizabethton Trail Project to Be Completed

A three-decade long project in Elizabethton looks like it finally get finished.

Thanks in part to funding from the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the city appears ready to finally finish construction on the Riverfront Linear Walking and Bicycle Path.

When it was first built in the 80s, the trail was put up around Covered Bridge Park and then grew in a series of phases. Over the years, the trail has been under construction from the East Side community to Sycamore Shoals.

The trail is now expected to be 100 percent complete by 2020.
