Citizens Shocked At Homeowners Punishment

(SMYTH COUNTY) – A Marion man, who tried to protect his home, goes to jail…Jim O’Reilly has more…

William Sheets was accused of shooting an intruder inside his home last fall. A Smyth County judge ordered Sheets to serve 30 days in jail. He is also required to forfeit his concealed carry permit. Sheets laid in wait at his home, a day after it was burglarized, expecting the suspects to return. William Jones and Lon Mulkey did just that. Sheets fought with Jones, and in the melee, shot the suspect twice. Then Sheets chased Jones back to his getaway car, firing all the way. Many in the community are shocked that Sheets was punished. Many there say they would do the same things Sheets did.
