(BLAND COUNTY) – A man is wanted on drug charges in Bland County…Jim O’Reilly reports…

Officers seize nearly $150,000 in cash and 12 ounces of methamphetamine from David Ray’s trailer in Bastian. They were waiting at Ray’s home to make the arrest on a tip. Ray pulls into his driveway in a coupe…officers appear…Ray hits the gas and eludes officers. They find Ray’s car later but the trail is cold. During the search for Ray, officers went through his home, finding the cash, drugs and other items. Ray is loose at this hour.

Head On Crash Near Bland

Officials say Brandon Johnson was driving home after a long shift at the Bland Correctional Center. They describe Johnson, heading west on Wilderness Road, drifted over the center line and slammed head on into Tobi Crigger’s car. They believe Johnson fell asleep at the wheel. He denies that. Both were taken to the hospital. Johnson is charged with reckless driving.

An Area Business To Shut Down

(BRISTOL, VA) – A Bristol, Virginia employer is closing…Jim O’Reilly has more…

A spokesman for Bristol Compressors confirmed to reporters the plant will shut down in the next few weeks, putting more than 400 workers out of a job. Company officials did not give details on the decision.

(MCLEAN) – Disappointing numbers from a Virginia satellite phone maker…Jim O’Reilly…

Iridium Communications reports a second-quarter loss of $4.4 million, this, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier. The company out of McLean revealed it had a loss of 6 cents a share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax expenses, were at 2 cents. Insiders say a shifting marketplace and supply issues were what led to the slide.

Bill Lee to Wind Down Primary Campaign with Jonesborough Stop

A candidate for Tennessee governor will wrap up his primary campaign with a stop in the Tri-Cities alongside a NASCAR legend tomorrow night.

Republican Bill Lee’s final stop before the Thursday primary will be in Jonesborough Wednesday night.

He will appear with retired Nascar driver Darrell Waltrip on the front steps of the old Washington County Courthouse from 8-9pm. Waltrip previously endorsed Lee and even appeared in a campaign video.

A JMC Analytics poll done 10 days ago had Lee leading the GOP field by 6 points.

Tri-Cities Airport Lands $1.8M Infrastructure Grant

The Tri-Cities Airport is getting nearly $1.8 million as part of a federal infrastructure grant.

Congressman Phil Roe announced the grant Monday night.

He says the money is earmarked for the the construction of a 34,000-square-foot yard for aircraft parking, replacing more than a dozen fire proximity suits, and repairs to both a runway and taxiways.
