New Tennessee Laws About To Go Into Effect

Beginning July 1st new laws go into effect in Tennessee. Karen Johnson reports.

Some of them will impact every area of state and local government including a law prohibiting the use of corporal punishment against a student with a disability, with some exceptions that include an agreement with the student’s parents or guardians. Another law will protect victims of identity theft, allowing them to apply for a new driver’s license with a new number when presenting police reports verifying the crime. And a third law requires the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to contact law enforcement when a person committed to a mental institution by a court attempts to buy a gun. I’m Karen Johnson.
