BTN Sees Great Recession In The Past

(BRISTOL, TN) — A King University study examines the economic progress of our area’s economic growth and recovery since the recession.

It shows 13,000 jobs were lost during the Meltdown. But since, East Tennessee has been making progress.

In the Tri-Cities area, Johnson City has shown the most growth, adding about 4500 jobs.

The study says health care and social assistance have taken over from manufacturing as the largest industry. There have also been job gains in retail, accommodations, and food services.
